Please be informed that the National Archives of the Philippines (NAP) will no longer allow the use of original records in our Temporary Reading Room at 1153 Cristobal Street, Paco, Manila due to conservation concerns. The Spanish Documents Section Collection is now very brittle and handling will have serious consequences. Instead the public may use the photocopy, microfilm, and digital copies of the records.
If records being requested are not yet digitized the researcher may request for their digitization. Please note that servicing of digitized records will depend on the number of requests received by the NAP Temporary Reading Room and the number of pages being requested by each researcher. On the average the SDS scanning personnel can produce at least 1000 pages of digitized records per day. Most requests should be serviced in a week’s time.
First time researchers will be required to submit a recommendation letter/s from their school/institutions/organization along with the filled-out Researcher’s Information Form. All researchers will be provided with finding aids to assist them in identifying the appropriate record series relative to their research topics.
