The National Archives of the Philippines (NAP) conducted the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) Training Course for the Public Sector at the Manila Prince Hotel on 22-23 October 2019. Ms. Aurora Dela Rosa from the Office of Civil Defense acted as resource speaker for the DRRM training attended by NAP employees.

The first day covered various topics related to the Philippine DRRM System and the different hazards that records may encounter. Other topics discussed in day two were Organizing Disaster Control Groups (DCG) and Using Incident Command System, Ensuring Safety in the Workplace, and Public Service Continuity Planning. Evacuation Drill,  Simulation Processing and DRRM Application were the highlights of the last day.

Republic Act No. 10121, an act strengthening the Philippine Disaster Risk Reduction and Management System calls for enhancing the capacity of all stakeholders of society with regard DRRM. The Act envisions safe, adaptive, and disaster-resilient communities in keeping with sustainable development. RA 10121 mandates public sector personnel to be trained in emergency response and preparedness as well as in other DRRM-related subjects.
